My standing theory is that cats and dogs can and sometimes do share amiable feelings towards each other, but like primary school students who express their attractions to the opposite sex through teasing, they chase each other to show their affections.
This painting was done with acrylics on canvas textured cardboard for a dear friend of mine. I allowed my perfectionism to go on a brief holiday (!) whilst my "inner child" (which is coffee) came out to play. It was inspired by love and a little bit by my dog, Tuffy, who dearly wants to be friends with every cat he sees but is instead chased and/or attacked by them.
A little bit of digital retouching has been done (change of levels and removal of strange bits of "dust") simply to increase the likeness of an extremely dodgy scan to the painting's true form.
Cat left, dog right, just in case you're only pretending to be kidding. I like how it mocks stereotypes a bit, since dogs are usually considered the bigger and stronger animal.
Aaaaah, Tuffy would empathise greatly with your dog. Poor things.
