This painting is/was a present for two very special people.
The first, a very dear person to me (non-deviant), went to the bizarre lengths of putting it on his wall!
And the second...?
This is a tribute to, and a token of my appreciation for, that spectacular individual known to us as germaine-en-tongs who has been bringing colour, life and love into many of our lives since January 2004. She has recently decided to leave these parts, but thankfully we can still visit Germaine and her wonderful creations at aveclesdents.net [link]
I have always loved Germaine's art because of that magical ability she has not simply to (traditionally and digitally) paint her chosen subjects, but to create characters. Characters that, with Germaine's meticulous attentions to the intricities of facial expressions and body language, almost seem alive. Indeed, I'm sure they did come alive in those small moments when they weren't being viewed, and continued to throw around those little hearts that often accompanied them, chuckle about the comments we made about them, and brag to their friends about how many favourites they received!
I particularly love Germaine's vegetables, which, with their technicolour whimsy, gave my life that much needed injection of assorted vitamins and minerals. So Germaine, this is for you. A sort of Potato Fan Art, you could say.
Wonderful --- I always wondered what that might look like. I'd imagine their sweet nothings would sound something like, "I only have eyes, and eyes, and eyes for you."

"Far too wide a stretch is made of the word 'artist' because I don't think the word is that elastic."
--- Dorothy Parker
Either that or they were having an argument, which could make either or both of them into those horrid creations known as "Bonsai Potatoes" [link] if things became physically violent.
This is what it sounds like, when spuds cry

Since when are the first line and the last line of any poem where the poem begins and ends?
